        Serving Jefferson County since 1981

Dr. Hank Snelgrove, practice owner, graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of California, Davis, in 1981. After graduation, he enjoyed the "James Herriot" vaDr. Hank Snelgroveriety of mixed practice that rural Jefferson County had to offer. Working with both pet owners and farmers quickly bonded him to the community.

In 1995, Dr. Snelgrove built Oak Bay Animal Hospital, and concentrated his attention on companion animal medicine and surgery. His interests include surgery, gastroenterology, dentistry and geriatric medicine. Recently he has been studying Traditional Chinese Veterinary Acupuncture and Medicine and is certified in that discipline.

Dr. Snelgrove and his family live on Marrowstone Island.

Dr. Chris Frank

Dr. Chris Frank graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 1990, as an honor student. After several years of practice in Portland, Oregon, Dr. Frank relocated to Jefferson County, making Port Townsend his home. He has been practicing veterinary medicine, surgery and dentistry at Oak Bay Animal Hospital since 1996. He also enjoys wildlife medicine, working with a local wildlife rehabilitator.

Dr. Frank and his wife, Jeannie, have two children and enjoy camping and hiking with their dog, Mowgli.

Dr. Madelyn CurllDr. Madelyn Curll graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. Immediately escaping Texas for the beautiful Northwest, she practiced at Lake Forest Park Animal Hospital in Seattle for five years, before moving to Bainbridge Island to work as a full time vet. She migrated west to Port Ludlow in 2000, which brought her to Oak Bay Animal Hospital as our weekend and relief doctor. She maintains a full schedule, also providing veterinary medical and surgical services to practices throughout the Olympic and Kitsap Peninsulas.

Over her long career, Dr. Curll has spent hundreds of hours in seminars covering every topic of medicine, dentistry and surgery. Loving general practice, Dr. Curll's philosphy is well stated by her mentor, Dr. Carl Osborne, "By practicing the Golden Rule, I... will treat patients and their families as I would want to be treated. I will try to give them reason to smile, help them cry, and provide them with a sound basis for hope."
